This shawl with a diamond and chevron pattern is the first garment Tim wove on our new Ashford 8 shaft loom. He spun the weft (the horizontal thread) from merino fleece bought from ‘Orkney Angora’ when it was still owned by Willian Sichel.
The shawl is a sampler so that rather than having the same pattern all the way through, it explores the range of designs that can be made with a particular threading. This gives the whole garment a much more exuberant feel, something utterly unique, well worth the twenty or so hours it took to make.
